Culture Caps
Postcards from five of the coolest cities in Europe

This fall Tokion whipped out our passports and hit up five of our favorite European culture capitals, squeezing them for all the art, fashion and design inspiration they could offer. We were going to send postcards to all our friends, but this seemed easier..

ZURICH

We walked around the Zurich West neighborhood today, where they've converted a few abandoned factories into enormous contemporary art spaces. The old Löwenbräu brewery is filled with galleries and two great museums: the Migros Museum and the Kunsthalle Zurich. The Schiffbau complex down the road was a shipbuilding factory, and now it’s a theater, an exhibition space and restaurants. Afterward, we climbed the Freitag tower, made from seventeen stacked shipping containers, and took some great photos of the city. From there we zoomed across town to the Time Tunnel boutique for a look at their selection of rare vintage clothing and designer furniture from Eames, Panton and Aarino. They’ve squeezed a little bit of everything in there, and they’ll even give you a haircut—no kidding!
