Dave Bixby
Ode To Quetzalcoatl [Guerssen]
Dave Bixby recorded this folk record in 1969 after taking acid for a year straight and talking to Jesus. To call it haunting and powerful would be a crass understatement. The antidrug message in “Drug Song” is more intense than Helen Hunt crashing out of a three-story window. For the last forty years, this record was only available in a rare, private-press edition that ran about $2,000, so this reissue from Spanish label Guerssen is looking like a real good deal right about now.
